Body Mass Index (BMI):

The measurement of body weight according to height. BMI, a pocket size tool that is frequently used to determine the weight. Today surgeon widely used to know about a person is at a healthy weight, over weight, or obese and relative health risk. A general report says:

BMI (18.5 to 24.9) – Healthy Weight
BMI (25 to 29.9) – Over weight
BMI (>30) – Obese.

Bariatric surgery:

It is well known as gastrointestinal surgery on the stomach or intestine to lose weight.

Calorie:

A unit of energy having food items like Carbohydrates, Proteins, alcohol, and fats. For example carbohydrates and proteins have minimum 4 calories per gram.

Carbohydrates:

A major source of energy in the meal. It is of two kinds- simple carbohydrates and complex carbohydrates. Simple carbohydrates is called sugars where as complex carbohydrates include starch and fiber both. Rich source of carbohydrates are rice, breads, milk made things, pasts, fruits, vegetables and many more.

Cholesterol:

A substance like fat is founded in the dairy products, meat, fish, and egg as well as made by the body also. It is needed to the production of vitamin and hormones.

Diabetes:

A kind of disease that occurs when the body is not able to use the glucose and the level of blood sugar is out of control. It is of two kinds: type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes.

Diet:

A prescribed selection of foods.

Dumping syndrome:

A general side effect founded in gastric bypass surgery.



Fat:

A major source of energy in the food items. It helps the body to absorb the fat-soluble vitamins like- A, D, E, and K. Access saturated fats may causes for heart disease.

Glucose:

A building block of sugar that has several forms; an important source of physiological energy.

Gastrointestinal surgery:

A kind of Bariatric surgery on the stomach or intestines to lose weight.

Healthy weight:

A body weight is relatively less than the overweight or obese. A BMI report of 18.5 to 24.9 is considered as a healthy weight.

High blood pressure:

A condition in which the blood pressure rises and falls during the day. An ideal blood pressure should be less than 120/80 mmHg.

Lap-Band:

An adjustable silicon band banded around the upper side of the stomach and leaves a tiny pocket above the band with remaining stomach below.

Nutrition:

It is a combo of foods that make to sustain life.

Obesity:

Excess body fat causes obesity. It is considered as BMI (Body Mass Index). A BMI of 30 or more is considered obese.





Overweight:

It is termed as BMI (Body Mass Index) of 25 to 29.9. Body fats, water, bone and muscles are responsible for body weight.>

An inside body gland that produce enzymes which are responsible to break down the foods and use their nutrients.>

Physical activity:

Any form of body movements and exercise. It may include running, walking, or playing any sports.>

Very low-calorie diet (VLCD):

A very low-calorie diet is advised by doctors typically to promote rapid loss in the body weight of obese people.
