What is Body Mass Index!



Body mass index is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women. it is more commonly known, is the most accurate way to measure your true condition and risk factors for developing severe diseases due to obesity. This measurement is much more important than a simple number on a scale.

Body mass index (BMI) can be used to indicate if you are overweight, obese, underweight or normal. A healthy BMI score is between 20 and 25. A score below 20 indicated that you may be underweight. Here a short chart is given below:



  • Underweight, BMI = 18.5
  • Normal weight BMI = 18.5 - 24.9
  • Overweight BMI = 25 - 29.9
  • Slight obesity BMI = 30 - 34.9
  • Obese BMI = 35 - 39.9
  • Excess obese = BMI = greater than 40

To use is a BMI indicator (Body Mass Index) which doesn't calculate your fat percentage but it tells you if you are overweight, under weight, obese or normal. You should try to get your BMI below 25. Under this number, you can expect to have good health if you are eating the right kinds of food and exercising regularly.
