Vertical Banded Gastroplasty!

Obesity is a rising problem in many countries around the globe. Many people suffer from continually increasing weight no matter what they try to do to stop or stem the problem. Many people now consider the option of weight loss surgery as an answer to their problem. But Vertical Banded Gastroplasty can also be a solution for weight loss.

Vertical Banded Gastroplasty is well known as stomach stapling. In this process, an undersized band is placed around the upper part of the stomach, creating a tiny purse. As with stapling, the small size of the purse means that you feel full sooner. Where as the band can be adjusted in size as a result of inflating or deflating the band. This allows the health expert to regulate the size of the opening between the purse and the stomach. In this procedure a section of the stomach is removed and the small intestine is shortened considerably, this results in less food being consumed, as the stomach feels fuller, sooner and for longer and the food that is consumed is only partially absorbed because of the much shortened small intestine.
