Post-Surgery Diet!



After weight loss surgery, you will need a new nutrition chart. Ask this in detail with your surgeon or dietitian as they can advice you learn about and get used to the changes in lifestyle and eating habits you need to make faultless.

This is very important to follow their eating and drinking advice starting right after the operation to let the new stomach structure to cure completely and in the expected shape. It may take a few months or more.

Diet Plan after Surgery:

When you eat solid meals without trouble you will need to pay close concentration to your meal. Liquids diet will pass through the reduced stomach pouch quickly and will not make you feel chock-a-block. So, you should always avoid the high-calorie drinks from this point of view. You should always drink only water, broth, tea, and coffee (black, without sugar).



Ten Important Rules:

The following rules for eating, drinking, and exercise will help you get the best results after weight loss surgery:

  • Eat only three small meals a day.
  • Eat slowly and chew thoroughly (approximately 15 to 20 times per bite).
  • Stop eating as soon as you feel full.
  • Don’t drink while eating.
  • Don’t eat between meals.
  • Eat only good quality food.
  • Avoid fibrous and junk food.
  • Drink sufficient fluids during the day.
  • Drink only low-calorie liquids.
  • Exercise at least 30 minutes per day.
Too much meal or big chunks of bread can block the stomach pouch outlet. So, you can avoid this problem by chewing food properly and taking small bits of bread or food at a time. Eat only three small diets a day and make sure that these diets have sufficient nutrients. A healthy meal has vegetable, fruit, meat, bread, and milk made products.



Food should be avoid:

Some food items have rich amount of calories with little nutritional value. They are: sugar and foods containing rich quantities of sugar, such as: high-calories sort, drinks, syrups, cakes, biscuits, sweets, jam, marmalade, and honey. You should be avoided as much as possible.

Chocolate, pies, chips, and pastries Alcoholic drinks should be strictly prohibited after weight loss surgery.
